Shueisha’s Ultra Jump comic magazine has announced the first “Hirohiko Araki Manga Award”, a manga competition to be judged by Hirohiko Araki of “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure” fame. The competition is open to original unpublished manuscripts by artists under the age of 40 at the time of application. All genres and themes are accepted — not just horror, suspense, and action which are signatures of Araki’s works.

Applications can be submitted by mail, hand-carried, or online, with the deadline set for 31st August 2021. The winner will be selected by Araki-sensei and the editorial department at Ultra Jump, with the winner to be announced on 19th October 2021.
The winner gets to take home JPY 1M in cash and the privilege of having their work published on Ultra Jump in full colour. For more information on the “Hirohiko Araki Manga Award”, check out the official website.
