Japanese professional gamer Daigo Umehara announced via his personal Twitter yesterday 8th May 2021 that he had contracted COVID-19.
6日、新型コロナウイルス陽性の結果を受けました。5日に高熱と倦怠感などの風邪の症状が出たため、翌日病院で検査をうけたものです。発症してからは外出せず、保健所からの連絡を待ちながら自宅療養を続けています。

On the 6th (of May), I received a positive result for COVID-19. I had cold symptoms such as high fever and malaise on the 5th, so I was examined at the hospital the next day. After the onset, I have not been able to go out and continue to receive medical treatment at home while waiting for a call from health professionals.
Umehara is renowned as “Japan’s first professional gamer” and was certified by the Guinness Book of Records as “the longest-winning professional gamer in the world” back in 2010. He has won many international fighting game competitions.
